Matrix: What is the ECS Client / Server application and how is ECS 5.1 Client Server option setup?

The ECS client server option allows two or more client PCs in essence to talk to a third PC acting as a central server PC to one or more Eclipse frames, the advantage in this configuration being that only one client PC can make edits to the system configuration at a time, the other PCs are locked out until the edits are done.
If client server operation is being used then all the ECS PCs on the network should be configured to run in this mode.
This option requires a passcode key to activate when logging into the client PC for the first time. Only one passcode is required for all client PCs on the network.
The server PC requires ECS and SQL server plus IIS (internet information services) provided by Microsoft. The server provides the back-end services such as map building, configuration sharing and access to the matrices. Clients access the server using Web-Services over ethernet. Configuration maps reside at the server.
Installation and configuration of IIS is explained in detail in the ECS 5.1.1 software manual section 11.
Client PC configuration requires a complete install of ECS and SQL server and the client PCs need to have the Mode Switcher application set to "Multi-User" mode.
Each Client PC will need a different user name and will log-in to the remote host Eclipse Server.
See attached block diagram for a typical server client setup.
