Partyline: How do I check for a my Partyline / intercom cables are good

If you want to check the integrity of a Partyline cable installation 
you can use these general guide lines Make sure no Mainstations or Beltpacks or power supplies or other devices are connected to the line
Test # 1 At one end of the cable short pins 2 & 3 At the other end of the cable you would need to see less than 40 ohms betweenpins 2 & 3
Test # 2 At one end of the cable short pins 1&2 or 1&3 At the other end of the cable you would need to see less than 20 ohms between the pins 
Note: the overall cable distance is measured byshorting a pair at one end & measuring the resistance with a multi-meter at the other endYou need to know the spec of thecable or measure a known length to work out ohms/metre. (ohms/feet)
