Wireless: Can I use accu-sync or roaming on 3.0 and 2.1 Tempest bases mixed together?

Tempest 3.00 firmware introduced network number groups for accu-sync and seamless roaming for multiple 2400 base station configurations.  The network number groups are shown below.  If the group numbers are not adhered to then the user will not have the proper RF hopping patterns on the base stations and this can result in RF system interference.  3.00 firmware also introduced the Z-Sync dongle which properly synchronizes multiple 2400 base stations and 1.18 radio version firmware to support seamless roaming.
Tempest 2.1 and earlier firmware systems used a different network numbering scheme where the network numbers were separated by at least 4 digits and no network number groups were established.  As a result it is not advised to mix older 2.1 generation 2400 base stations with newer 3.00 firmware systems in linked base station operation via accu-sync or seamless roaming scenarios.  Older 2.10 2400 systems can be upgraded to version 3.00 in the field to support accu-sync connections, but to support seamless roaming they need to have older 1.15 radio modules upgraded to 1.18 to support seamless roaming and this requires a visit to our Auburn Alabama repair facility to have the update done there.  This includes radio modules in beltpacks, base stations and in remote transceivers.
