Tempest Base Station LAN Settings:
  • Ensure wireless connectivity is off on laptop if using a laptop!!
  • Verify that your Firewall is off, or set your hardware and/or software firewalls to pass ports 50500 and 50501 UDP, and 50502 TCP
  • Menu > #1 Base Station Settings (ent) > #7 Tech Menu (ent) > "TECH MENU WARNING" (ent)
  • Tech Menu > #7 Lan Settings (ent) > #5 TCP/IP Mode (ent)
  • Select #2 Manual (ent)
  • Any change to the #5 "TCP/IP Mode" requires the BaseStation to be powered off and back on for changes to be implemented.
  • Once the Basestation is turned back on and POSTed:
  • Hit Menu > #1 Base Station Settings (ent) > #7 Tech Menu (ent) > "TECH MENU WARNING" (ent)
  • Tech Menu > #7 Lan Settings (ent)
  • Enter into #1 TCP/IP and Set your IP Address. Use the Enter button to toggle between octets and use the scroll knob to select to proper numbers.
  • Hit Menu to exit back to the previous menu for Lan Settings.
  • Enter into #2 Subnet Mask and Set your Subnet Mask. Use the Enter button to toggle between octets and use the scroll knob to select to proper numbers.
  • Hit Menu to exit back to the previous menu for Lan Settings.
  • Enter into #3 Default Gateway and Set your Default Gateway (if necessary). Use the Enter button to toggle between octets and use the scroll knob to select to proper numbers.
  • An example of your configuration should look something like this:
      Example: IP Address        : 192.168.10.2
                       Subnet Mask     :  255.255.255.0
                       Default Gateway:  192.168.1.1
  • Once you have entered all of your network information, use the menu key to back out of the set up menus, or wait for it to time out.
  • In the general display where you would see the belt pack slots, the top title bar should indicate that you are in LAN mode.
  • Connect your network cable between the Tempest Base Station and your computer nic port. Newer computers that have Auto-MDIX capability can use either standard CAT-5 cable or a crossover cable. Auto-MDIX detects the connected cable type and configures the computer connection appropriately. Otherwise a crossover cable is required between the BaseStation and the computer nic port.
  • Once connected, launch the T-Desk software. It should take a few moments for the software to detect the base station.
