Wireless: Can I combine Normal, Shared and Split modes in a Tempest 3.0 roaming group?
Wireless: Can I combine Normal, Shared and Split modes in a Tempest 3.0 roaming group?
Question: I want to use three Tempest 3.0 base stations in a seamless roaming group, can I combine Normal, Shared or Split modes in the same roaming group?
Answer: All Tempest operational modes (Normal, Shared and Split) are supported for seamless roaming operation.
Modes and configurations can be mixed and matched to accommodate various requirements and numbers of wireless users.
VERY IMPORTANT! It is required that all of the base stations in a beltpack’s roaming group be in the same operational mode (i.e. all in Normal Mode or all in Share Mode or all in Split mode). Failure to comply with this requirement may cause unexpected and/or undesirable results. So if three base stations are setup in Normal mode for a roaming group the beltpacks in that roaming group will need to be in Normal mode. They cannot jump from a Normal mode base to Shared mode base and back. Also if the beltpacks are roaming from base to base they will need open slots on all three bases in order to jump successfully.
