Question: a) What type of cable is used to connect to a Pro850 base when using the PC850 software. b) Can we use a USB to serial adaptor.
Answer: a) The serial port on the Pro850 basestation is a RS232 port. A standard RS232 serialcable will work. b) Most of the newer laptops don’t have a physical RS232 port soa USB dongle/adapter is ok to use with the appropriate D connector of course. You just need to confirm which com port your laptop has been assigned to the USB dongle. Make sure this matches the com port setting in the PC850 software.
