Question: We have "click´s & pop´s" in the system, quite loud, enough to be major complains from the users, what could this be and what can we do about it?We are using a DX200 system as well as a DX121.
Answer: The pops and clicks are most likely the bases RF transmissions (FHSS- Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum) hopping on top of each other, in other words the signals collide. Our DX series radios are digital so the pops and clicks are a result of missing data packets when the signal is interrupted by another signal. This is most common when using multiple DX series bases in the same area where the RF coverage over laps each other. Setting one DX base to primary mode and the other DX base to secondary mode would correct that problem this is outlined in the manual
Note: this feature was available on bases after March 2006. If there are other FHSS devices in the area this too would create the same pops and clicks. In that case you might also need to implement the Spectrum Friendly feature which also is in the manual. This feature was available on bases after March 2009.
