Wireless: Changing the Tempest Beltpack from Normal to Shared mode
Tempest 2400 Beltpacks from version 2.00.01 onwards can operate in either "Normal" or "Shared" modes . Verify that the Radio version firmware is 1.15 or higher, this allows operation in "Normal", "Shared" and "Split" base station modes. Tempest 2400 beltpacks with Radio version firmware 1.14 can only operate in "Normal" and "Split" base station mode. All Tempest 900 beltpacks with Radio version 1.16 can operate in "Normal", "Split" and "Shared" base station modes.
To change this setting on a beltpack follow this procedure:
1. Press the MENU button on the BP
2. Scroll downwards to the "Mode Setting" selection, press ENTER
3. Scroll to the "Normal / Shared" selection, press ENTER
4. Select either Normal or Shared, place the check mark next to the desired selection and press ENTER
5. Back out of the Menus by repeatedly pressing the MENU button to finish the process.
Normal Mode refers to a beltpack with a designated slot on the base station that operates in full duplex mode. Up to five beltpacks can be paired to a base station and operate in this manner.
Shared mode beltpacks operate with a base station that is set to either Split or Shared mode, these modes allows an unlimited number of beltpacks to operate on the 5th base station slot (Split mode) in PTT mode. In Shared mode the first 5 beltpack users to press their talk button can communicate with each other. Other beltpacks can be logged in but have to wait for a shared slot to open up before they can press their talk buttons and have a full duplex conversation.
