Wireless: One of our DX200 base stations has a 60 Hz hum when the front panel headset mic switch is engaged.

Question: One of our DX200 base stations has a 60 Hz hum when the front panel headset mic switch is engaged. This hum is reduced if I touch the chassis and eliminated if I ground the chassis.

Answer: It’s not surprising that you have a 60 Hz hum that goes awaywhen you ground the base. There is a ground lug provided at the rear of thebase for just that purpose. Our bases are designed with a floating ground. Youwill not achieve proper grounding simply by mounting the base in a rack. The basechassis must be grounded by way of the provided ground lug in the rear.
