Matrix: How do I load a configuration into slots 2, 3 or 4 of a Pico frame using ECS 5.1?
Question: I have a Pico frame running ECS 5.1.3, I need to load a configuration into slot 2 but have been unable to accomplish this. Can you provide a step by step list on how to this?
Answer: Follow the steps below to assign a configuration map to slot 2 of a Pico frame. The same procedure can be used to load a valid configuration onto slots 1 to 4 of a frame that is running ECS 5.1 or lower (Note: A different process is used to load a configuration slot of a frame running ECS 5.2).
1. Open ECS, it will display the blank work screen.
2. Click on “Open” icon on the tool bar or click on the file drop down menu and select “Open”, from the Open dialog screen highlight a configuration map and click on the Open button to select it.
3. From the toolbar click on the “My Systems” icon and open the My Systems dialog screen. You will see a configuration open in slot one on the frame box.
4. Right click on the frame box to open a list of menu options, select “Clear Configuration”, the frame box configuration name will be removed.
5. Click on the frame box configuration 2 button to select this configuration slot.
6. Drag a configuration from the left hand side of the My Systems screen and place it on the blank frame box. The name should be seen on the frame box and the slot 2 button should be highlighted.
7. Click on the “Save and Activate” button in the lower right hand corner of the My Systems screen. You may be prompted at this point to create a layout name for the configuration, if so then use the configuration map name and click on the save button, this will close the My Systems screen.
8. You are now ready to send the configuration map to the frame, click on the “Save and Apply” button on the toolbar, click on the options buttons and set a check mark on the reset frame after download. Click on the “OK” button to initiate a download of the map to the frame with a frame reset (NOTE: This will temporarily disable the frame and all connected panels / interfaces for a short period of time, approximately 30 – 40 seconds so don’t attempt this during a time when the intercom system is being used for critical communications).
9. After the download is completed the Pico frame will now have a configuration stored in slot 2. To access this configuration go the Pico frame and observe the front panel. It will probably show that the slot 1 configuration is active (solidly lit green LED). Using the blue Config button on the front panel of the Pico toggle the lit LED to the slot 2 LED, it will start to blink. Press and hold in the Config button until the slot 2 LED stops blinking, then release the Config button. Observe that the frame is now resetting (see note on step 8) and going to the slot 2 configuration, the slot 2 LED will now come on solid green and the slot changeover process is now complete and the frame / panels and interfaces should be back online.
