Digital Partyline: Helixnet basestation not able to recognize each other on VLAN
The Ethernet switches we are using are the Extreme Summit X440 models. Here are the symptoms: We have three HMS-4X with ET2 modules connected to a network switch. We have some HRM-4X panels connected to the same switch. The panels can see the individual HMS-4X stations. The stations can't see each other. If we plug two base station ET2 modules together directly with a cable they can connect. The HMS-4X systems have firmware 2.0.63
Solution: Customer had success getting all helixnet basestations to recognize each other turning off IGMP snooping on the VLAN linking all the helixnet base stationsClear-Com recommends when using VLANs that you setup the VLAN to look like a plain / simple un-managed LAN segment
Solution update: Oct 2017
Ensure that ""block unregistered multicast"" is not set on Netgear / Extreme switches. This blocks traffic that should be allowed (mDNS, PTP)Helixnet uses mDNS to send out mainstation names and ip address for pairing of units .
Some additional notes from Netgear on using Dante and multi-cast IP traffic
set up multicast as their tech note suggests: https://kb.netgear.com/000060205/M4300-Configuration-Guide-for-Dante-Audio-Devices
