HelixNet: How do I upgrade the firmware on a HKB-2X speaker station?

QUESTION

How can I upgrade the firmware on a HKB-2X speaker station?

I don't see a USB connector on the speaker station, does it have to be done through the HMS-4X main station?

My main station/ other speaker stations are running v3.0.126 and this speaker station was sitting in storage on an earlier 2.0.71 firmware version.

ANSWER

OPTION 1:

The easiest way to upgrade a HKB-2X speaker station is to simply connect it to the HMS-4X main station via a 3-pin XLR mic cable to either power line 1 or 2.

As soon as the unit powers up via the power line the HKB-2X will update automatically to the same firmware version of the HMS-4X main station.

OPTION 2:

The second way to upgrade the HKB-2X is via Ethernet if the HKB-2X has a static IP address on the same subnet as the HMS-4X main station with a HLI-ET2 ethernet module.

You may have to go into the speaker station's administration menu > software > update to start the update sequence.

OPTION 3:

The third way to update the speaker station is via the main station using the upgrade files installed on a USB stick plugged into the main station front panel and prompting the main station to install via the Admin > Software > Update feature.

Updating in this manner first updates the main station. Once done, the update is then circulated to any connected HBP-2X beltpacks via power line and any connected HKB-2X speaker stations via power line or Ethernet.

Please note that this takes the system offline during the course of the update until it has completely updated all remotely connected HelixNet hardware endpoints.
