Matrix: How can I tell when the Eclipse frame has finished updating panel firmware?
Question: I plan on updating my Eclipse frame to ECS 5.2, I have numerous panels on the frame located on multiple floors and don't want to confirm visually each panel location physically to determine if the firmware upgrade took properly. Can I confirm panel firmware upgrades from the frame or via ECS at the rack location?
Answer: There are several ways to confirm panel upgrades from the frame via ECS software.
1. Activate the Matrix Event log and select "Play" and then select "Request Info". This will open the Request Matrix Information logger, select "Matrix Overview" and click on the Send button. Allow the logger to finish logging the frame's information, then activate the ECS firmware updater from the System Layout screen. Select the panel firmware to update and start the firmware update for the selected panel. The ECS Matrix logger will show the firmware update to the frame, when the panels have completed their firmware update the panels will reset and the logger will record the reset of the panels and show when they are back online. Once all the updated panels show their reset go to step 2.

2. Close the Matrix Event log and go to the System Layout Screen and generate a Firmware Report from the frame box by right clicking on the frame box and selecting "Firmware / Firmware Report". The report will show all panel types and their current firmware version by port and MVX-A16 card position. Verify that the selected panel firmware version matches the panel firmware sent by the firmware updater in step 1.
