Wireless: Can I operate a CellCom/Freespeak base station on a different subnet from the host PC?

Question:  We just changed over to a new PC on a different subnet (10.1.50. 101) from the base station (10.1.20.100).  I'm using the CellCom Config editor to modify a configuration.  I can ping the IP adress but config editor will not configure Cell Base, when I initiate a download to the base it times out.  Any ideas why this is happening?
Answer:  The issue is that the CellCom base is on a different subnet from that of the PC.  The cellcom base has to be on the same subnet as the PC, it doesn’t have an Ethernet port with subnet / gateway configurability.  Put the Cellcom base on the same subnet address and you should be able to use the config editor to talk to the CellCom base station.
