Wireless: How do I register a new/repaired beltpack to my Cellcom/FreeSpeakbase?
1. Open the cellcom/freespeak config editor on your PC.
2. Connect your PC to the base, you can do it serially or with the LAN connection. If using the LAN, check the IP address on the base and on your PC, they must be on the same network.
3. On the config editor and depending on what connection you are using, click on retrieve (left bottom area for serial or right bottom area for LAN) to get the configuration from the base.
4. You can now register the beltpacks and for this you’ll need the registration cable which is a DB-9 to miniplug (3.5 mm plug). Connect the DB-9 to your PC serial port, you can use a USB-serial adaptor if your PC doesn’t have a serial port, and the miniplug to the DATA connector on the bottom of the beltpack.
5. On the config editor, select a beltpack (an empty beltpack slot or the same one the beltpack was using) and click on the button “register”. You should see the serial number of the beltpack showing up.
6. Repeat this for each beltpack you need to register.
7. You will need to send the changes down to the base so, if you are connected serially, disconnect the registration cable and connect the PC to the base or use the LAN connection.
8. Click on “Reset on apply” (after version 2.0) which is located on the bottom center area on the config editor and then click on “save and apply” or "send" (again, it depends on the connection method).
The changes will be sent to the base and the beltpacks will show the labels you have configured.
