Wireless: What is the Vega PL-2 Receiver?

The Vega PL-2 IFB was a single/dual channel IFB receiver that operated in the VHF band between 150 - 220 MHz in multiple frequency splits.  It was a crystal controlled device that worked with a VHF rack-mount transmitter model # RMT-10 (single channel) or RMT-14 (four channel transmitter).  A portable beltpack single channel transmitter model # T-17 was also available.
The PL-2 was powered by a single 9 volt battery and had an effective range of 1000 feet  (300m) in line of site conditions.  The audio output of the PL-2 was routed to a earphone which doubled as the receive antenna.
It was manufactured for Vega by Azden Corporation.  The product line was obsoleted in 2001 when Vega was acquired by Clear-com Communications.

The user manual for the PL-2 is attached below.
