Wireless: In order to link two Tempest bases, is the Accu-Sync flat cable all I need?
Question: In order to link two Tempest bases, is the Accu-Sync flat cable all I need?, Does the Accu-Sync flat cable carries the audio signal as well?
Answer: No, The flat DB-9 cable only carries the RF sync signal and it is necessary to link the Tempest bases either via 2w or 4w for the audio.
We recommend using the 4w option when linking 2 bases as this option provides clearer audio and no nulling is required.Check that the Tempest 4wire option is selected on the channel that is being linked to the other Tempest basestation
In order to link 2 bases via 4w it is necessary to use a AUDIO crossover CAT5 cable. This is the pin out:PIN PIN1 NoConnection 1 No Connection2NoConnection 2 No Connection3Audio Output(+) --------------- 4 Audio Input (+)4Audio Input (+) --------------- 3 Audio Output (+)5AudioInput(-) --------------- 6 Audio Output (-)6Audio Output(-) --------------- 5 Audio Input(-)7NoConnection 7 No Connection8 NoConnection 8 No Connection
When using the 2w option to link 2 bases or more, you can use standard MIC cable.
The power up sequence is important: power up the first base (sync master) and wait about 30 seconds until it has finished the boot up sequence, then poewr up the second base. If you have more than 2 bases, follow the same sequence, always waiting 30 seconds in between so that each base completes its boot up sequence.
Also, different network numbers are required, at least have 4 digits intervals from base to base. You will need to re-register the bps to its corresponding base after this step.
1) From the PL XLR connectors on the rear of the Tempest base link together PL-1 from one base to another. 2) Make sure there is an external PL power supply driving the internal Tempest PL circuits. If no external PL power supply is available then set one of the Tempest basestations into Master mode
3) When linking basestations by via 2w, select2w on the required channel and then you’ll have to perform the autonulling on both bases:go to menu-> wired intercom settings -> auto null , proceed with the nulling.
Thentalk on a beltpack on the channel you have linked via the 2w, and the echocancelling circuit will start adjusting. You’ll need to talk for about 15seconds or until you no longer hear echo.
