Matrix: ECS 5.1 and higher installation requirements
ECS 5.1 uses DVD media due to the associated support files (Windows Service Pack 3, SQL server 2005 etc) and thus requires a DVD readable drive in order to install on the host PC. Double click on the Setup.exe file in the ECS section of the DVD to start the installation. The installer will verify the setup file and display the first installation screen. When installing on Windows XP it is essential that service pack 3 is installed first. This is supplied on the distribution media in the 3rd_Party_Software folder under “XP sp3”. Run the executable in the folder to install XP service pack 3 if the host PC doesn't have this service pack installed. Note: The user can verify if the host PC has SP3 installed by accessing: Start Menu > Control Panel > System > GeneralOnce SP3 installation is verified follow the directions on the ECS installer, see pages 14 - 3 to 14 - 8 in the ECS 5.1 software manual. If the ECS installation fails due to SQL server 2005 installation issues it will be necessary to install the SQL server manually as described in “Stand-Alone SQL Server Install” on pages 14 - 9 to 14 - 19 of the ECS 5.1 software manual.
