Matrix: Can I connect the old Drake 5230 fibre panel mux/demux to an Eclipse frame fitted with the AES-6 interface card

If using Eclipse Matrix>AES-6>Drake Fibre mux <-> Drake Fibre mux>Panel (42xxE panel with PDE4536 coax daughter card fitted)
After setting the Drake Fibre mux to48Khz mode 
a) 4224E panel with coax (PDE4536) works bi-directional (data/audio)
b) Vpanel with AES-3 adaptor card - does NOT work (no data/audio)
