Matrix: How can I tell if an i-station panel has Eclipse firmware installed?

Question:  I have purchased several used i-stations for use with my Eclipse frame, when I plug them in to my frame they don't respond to the port programming and the displays simply say "No Connection to Matrix", are the panels compatible with my Eclipse frame?

Answer: The simplest way to check, is to power up the I-station and NOT connect it to the frame. If the I-station display reads "No Connection to Matrix" - then it can be connected to MTX+3 frames (as long as the panel firmware matches the matrix firmware version)
If the I-station display reads "No Connection to Eclipse" - then it can only be connected to Eclipse frames
I-stations will connect to a frame that has the same version firmware, that is an Eclipse panel can only connect to an Eclipse frame and a Matrix +3 panel can only connect to a Matrix +3 frame.  An I-station that displays the message "No Connection to Matrix" is only capable of connecting to a Matrix +3 frame.  See the picture below:

To further verify this power cycle the panel, when it goes through the reboot process the display should show
the firmware version for a short period of time before displaying the "No Connection to Matrix"
See picture below:

In order for the Eclipse frame to use these panels the user would have to use a terminal program to reprogram the i-station with Eclipse firmware that matches the Eclipse frame's firmware version.  The i-station serial.s19 file can be found on the Eclipse release CD or DVDs along with Tera Term terminal application and instructions for updating the firmware on the panel.
