Dante: AES67 connection guidelines
Clear-Com AES67 connection guidelines. March 27, 2017
When connecting devices in order to routeAES67 audio streams with your E-DANTE 64 card, the following general principlesshould be noted:- · AES67 uses IEEE1588-2008Precision Time Protocol (PTP) to ensure synchronization between devices. Allnetworked devices, including your network switch must support this standard.
- · You need to disable any EnergyEfficient Ethernet (EEE) switches, as these will disrupt the synchronization ofaudio streams.
- · All networked devices need tosupport multicast routing. The Dante system defaults to multicast when routingAES67 streams.
- · Multicast routing uses theClass D range of IP addresses (224.x.x.x – 239.x.x.x). For AES67 streams, chosean IP range that does not conflict with other network traffic. Consult yournetwork administrator if necessary.
- · It is recommended that InternetGroup Management Protocol (IGMP) snooping is enabled on your network switch. This will avoid the possibility of flooding your network.
- · When routing audio streams, sample rate on all devices must be the same.
- · Dante uses Session AnnouncementProtocol (SAP) to discover devices on a network. If any of your devices do notsupport SAP, the Dante Controller will not be able to see them. In this case, you need to use a SAP conversion tool, such as the free Ravenna-2-SAP converteravailable from the Ravenna website.
