Matrix: How do I get rid of a "ghost tally" on my Matrix+3 system?
Question: I have a Matrix +3 system and occasionally one of the operators gets a ghost tally on his panel. I've checked and can't find an in use tally set on the key on this panel nor a key activation on another panel that would cause the tally indication on the affected panel. Is their a way to correct this?
Answer: This "ghost tally" could be caused by several factors on the system:
1. Defective talk key or talk (red) led indicator on another panel, key is activated but the led doesn't show the key activation - listen on the affected panel to see if any background noise or chatter is present indicating an active path to the affected panel
2. Defective or non-responsive MVX-A8 port card - reset the affected port card(s)
3. Non-responsive Config-1 card - reset the system cards (config-1 and all MVX-A8 port cards)
4. Uncheck the Restore Listen, Restore Talk Paths in the System Preferences menu
5. Save the current configuration, then activate the "Reset System to Factory Defaults" in the Transfers menu, this will cause the system to go to the default 12 PLs menu on all panels. If the ghost tally is gone then re-install the user configuration to see if the issue is resolved. If the issue returns the issue could be associated with a configuration corruption and the source and destination ports should be deleted and rebuilt to fix the issue.
