Wireless: Can I legally use the WBS-670 G9 band on a Cruise ship at sea?
Question: Is it possible to use the WBS-670 G9 band wireless system on a Cruise ship when it is at sea? I understand that this band is not legal to use when the ship is docked at a US port due to FCC restrictions about using wireless systems above 700 MHz.
Answer: It would be ok to use the G9 system while at sea, the FCC regulations only pertain to use in the United States proper, while at sea the system doesn't need to meet US FCC regulations regarding the use of wireless systems operating at 700 MHz and above (the G9 band operates on two bands above 700 MHz, 796 - 814 MHz and 844 - 862 MHz).
The same would also be true for the C6 band for WBS-670 and WBS-680 systems as the operating frequencies for this band are 554 - 572 MHz and 704 - 722 MHz.
