Matrix: How Do I convert a Standard CAT-5 Cable to an Ethernet Cross-Over Cable?
Take the standard T-568B CAT-5 cable and remove the RJ-45 connector from one end. Strip back the jacket of the cable and seperate out the pairs from the exposed end of the cable. Using a new RJ-45 connector sort out the pairs as shown below in the right-hand side of the diagram, insert into the new connector and crimp.
