Tempest CP-222 and CP-242 beltpacks support both the use of dynamic and electrec headsets, the 4-pin male XLR headset connector circuitry is auto sensing with most dynamic or electrec headsets.   The mic detect circuit (dynamic/electret) will indicate dynamic when it sees a load of 600Ω or less. It will indicate an electret when it sees 1kΩ or greater. Headsets with microphones between 600Ω and 1kΩ are not recommended as the beltpack may not accurately detect mic type / microphone gain structure.
Solution update: Some dynamic headsets with pre-amplifiers are sometimes sensed as electret even though they have a dynamic mic.
