Matrix: How do I connect between TR-50, PS-702 and Eclipse Pico
I want to connect some TR-50 (talent ear pieces) to my Eclipse-Pico matrix
First of all, the TR-50 is a 2W (Partyline device) it is essentially a listen only wired beltpack, so it will require power and you will need to convert from 2w to 4w in order to connect it to the Eclipse Pico
We would recommend using the IFB-104 interface, which would met this application
The IFB-104 is a 1RU panel that directly connects up to four IFB feeds to the ports of a digital matrix system. Individual or multiple IFB ear buds or headphones may be used directly from each connected matrix port. The IFB-104 does not require external power to drive its circuitry. Each channel has a rear-mounted wet/dry switch, allowing either direct connection or powering via a party-line intercom power supply. The signal from the matrix port is transformer-coupled to the XLR connector output.
To complete the setup One would configure a port on the Eclipse Pico as a “direct” port-function port in the ECS GUI. You would highlight that port and in the ADVANCED SETTINGS, you’d make it a GLOBAL IFB with FULL CUT (or however you want to configure it), and also set the LATCH DISABLE to “true”, so the operator will not accidentally latch the IFB function to “on”. Some people also like to use the IN-USE-TALLY, but that is optional.In ECS go to the local advance > forced listen screen and setup a crosspoint from the program audio source to the GLOBAL IFB port you have just setupThen, take a standard straight CAT5 patch cable from the Global IFB matrix port, to the IFB-104. Connect XLR cable from the IFB-104 to the TR-50 unit. Remember to also bring a mic cable from the PS-702 to the IFB-104 unit, to power all the outbound wet IFBs. The switch on the IFB-104 port that you are using should be set to “wet”.
When the system is setup and running the talent using the TR-50 will hear the program audio source via the matrix. Whenever a panel operator talks to the Global IFB port (talent label), the matrix will automatically cut the program audio source and allow the talent on the TR-50 to hear the command from the panel operator. When the panel operator releases their talk key.The talent will return to hearing the program audio.
The TR-50 has a volume control knob to allow the talent to control the volume of the audio in their ear piece
