Wireless: CellCom / Freespeak beltpack firmware file versions
Question: I need to upgrade my CellCom beltpacks to the latest application firmware version. How do I select the proper firmware file from the CellCom / Freespeak CD?
The latest released version of CellCom can be found on the Clear-Com web site / support / firmware versions
Answer:
The best way to determine what the proper firmware file to use to upgrade would be to take the beltpack while it is registered to the base station and powered on and go into the user menus / View Status Menu / Beltpack version / enter and observe the version on the beltpack screen. The beltpack LCD screen will display the current application version and DECT version as shown below:
If the application version starts with a 3kxxxxxx then the beltpack is a current Mark II beltpack. (serial number includes in a letter)
If the application version starts with a 2kxxxxxx then the beltpack is an obsolete Mark I beltpack. (no letter associated with SN)
For older Drake PD2202 series beltpacks the following firmware was used:
1Kxxxxxx was used for Kirk RF module packs
1Rxxxxxx was used for RM5 RF module packs
Note: care should be taken when upgrading firmware, use of wrong firmware download to beltpack can cause the beltpack to become non-functional (beltpack screen shows no information, may not power up unless the power button is held in). If this occurs try to reload the correct firmware version into the pack.
