Station-IC: What is the latency of Station-IC?
Question:
What is the latency of Station-IC?
Answer:
Station-IC audio latency is measured on a controlled LAN.
Eclipse systems allow users to select and configure (Eclipse only) Network Connection Presets.
These presets adjust jitter buffers, enable forward error correction and encryption, depending on the selection, to make connectivity over different networks to enable connection reliability over the available QoS .
Windows - Eclipse | Configured Network Connection (/Jitter Buffer) Preset | |||
---|---|---|---|---|
From | To: | LAN | WAN | Internet |
Station-IC | 4-wire | 85 ms | 92 ms | 117 ms |
4-wire | Station-IC | 135 ms | 158 ms | 216 ms |
Station-IC | Station-IC | 220 ms | 245 ms | 333 ms |
MacOS - Eclipse | Configured Network Connection (/Jitter Buffer) Preset | |||
---|---|---|---|---|
From | To: | LAN | WAN | Internet |
Station-IC | 4-wire | 109 ms | 115 ms | 145 ms |
4-wire | Station-IC | 85 ms | 107 ms | 177 ms |
Station-IC | Station-IC | 185 ms | 205 ms | 305 ms |
Windows - LQ | Configured Network Connection (/Jitter Buffer) Preset | |||
---|---|---|---|---|
From | To: | High | Balanced | Low |
Station-IC | 4-wire | 60 ms | 90 ms | 110 ms |
4-wire | Station-IC | 115 ms | 115 ms | 115 ms |
Station-IC | Station-IC | 197 ms | 202 ms | 246 ms |
MacOS - LQ | Configured Network Connection (/Jitter Buffer) Preset | |||
---|---|---|---|---|
From | To: | High | Balanced | Low |
Station-IC | 4-wire | 66 ms | 88 ms | 109 ms |
4-wire | Station-IC | 76 ms | 76 ms | 76 ms |
Station-IC | Station-IC | 94 ms | 140 ms | 152 ms |
Note: LQ is measured with LQ Local Mix Network Quality receiver set to High
Windows - LQ in HelixNet Link Group | Configured Network Connection (/Jitter Buffer) Preset | |||
---|---|---|---|---|
From | To: | High | Balanced | Low |
Station-IC | 4-wire | 106 ms | 106 ms | 106 ms |
4-wire | Station-IC | 119 ms | 132 ms | 172 ms |
Station-IC | Station-IC | 177 ms | 187 ms | 223 ms |
MacOS - LQ in HelixNet Link Group | Configured Network Connection (/Jitter Buffer) Preset | |||
---|---|---|---|---|
From | To: | High | Balanced | Low |
Station-IC | 4-wire | 109 ms | 109 ms | 109 ms |
4-wire | Station-IC | 77 ms | 96 ms | 137 ms |
Station-IC | Station-IC | 171 ms | 177 ms | 183 ms |
Please note:
The above audio latency was measured on a local network with user selected network connection presets which increased latency with audio processing, encryption and Forward Error Correction for network resilience. Measurements are averages due to inline adaptive Echo Cancellation and Silence Suppression.
Final latency performance will be heavily dependent on configuration, computer, audio peripherals and network.
Practical Comparison:
Using the same test methods, Agent-IC and Microsoft Teams were measured for comparison.
Latency Comparison | Network Connection (/Jitter) Preset | |||
---|---|---|---|---|
From | To: | OS/Connection | WAN | Internet |
Agent-IC | Agent-IC | iOS | 380 ms | 315 ms |
Agent-IC | Agent-IC | Android | 208 ms | 455 ms |
MS Teams | MS Teams | Windows | 217 ms | |
MS Teams | MS Teams | MacOS | 180 ms |
